Spain’s Luna Sobrón Galmés and England’s Charlotte Heath sit tied at the top of the leaderboard on 16-under-par with one round left to play at the 2026 Aramco China Championship. Backed by Golf Saudi as part of the PIF Global Series, the US$2 million tournament co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET) and China LPGA Tour (CLPGA) delivered sensational moving-day drama across the World Cup Course at Mission Hills Resort Shenzhen, setting up a thrilling finale while showcasing the series’ commitment to grassroots golf.

Sobrón Galmés, who entered the day in a share of second place overnight, fired a superb 5-under-par 68 on day three. The Spaniard opened her scoring with a birdie on the second hole before recovering from a dropped shot on the fourth with back-to-back birdies on five and six. After adding another birdie on the eighth, she carded consecutive gains on holes 10 and 11; a dropped shot on the 15th was swiftly erased with a clinical birdie on the 17th to post rounds of 68, 67, and 68 for a 203 (-16) total.

Speaking after securing her share of the 54-hole lead, Sobrón Galmés said:

“I’m very happy. I’m playing well, so being on top is a good position for tomorrow. I am playing with a strategy, and it’s good. Of course I want to win. I am a player and a professional. You want to win every time. Yes, it’s in my mind, but if you feel comfortable doing the process and everything, it will come. I’m waiting for this win, so maybe this week, maybe next week or next year. I’m doing good things, I’m playing well.”

Matching her at the summit is LET rookie Heath, who produced a flawless, bogey-free 5-under-par 68 to join Sobrón Galmés at 16-under. Heath made steady inroads with birdies at the fifth and 10th holes before finishing her round in electrifying style, rolling in three consecutive birdies across her final three holes to surge into the co-lead.

The leading pair holds a slender one-stroke cushion over England’s Mimi Rhodes, who signed for a third-round 69 to sit solo third at 15-under-par. The Czech Republic’s Sára Kousková sits fourth at 14-under following her 68, while England’s Annabell Fuller holds fifth position on 13-under-par (206). A strong domestic challenge remains within striking distance, with Chinese stars Ruixin Liu, 16-year-old amateur Yujie Liu, Shiyuan Zhou, and Round 2 leader Liqi Zeng tied for sixth at 12-under-par.

Off the course, the tournament’s mission to inspire future generations came to life with an energetic junior golf clinic and community activation that welcomed 150 local students to Mission Hills. A dedicated group of 30 aspiring junior golfers received hands-on coaching and mentorship from six elite international and regional professionals: Norway’s Marianne Skarpnord, Hong Kong’s Ginnie Ding, the United States’ Brianna Navarrosa, China’s Shuying Li and Yulin Chen, and Malaysia’s Jing Xuen Ng.

The junior participants represented a diverse cross-section of community and developmental initiatives, including Special Olympics Hong Kong, Golf Planet Golf Academy, PGA Academy Mission Hills, the Mission Hills Community Golf Programmes, Bromsgrove School Mission Hills, Shenzhen China-US School, and winners of the Mini 9-Hole Challenge. Reflecting the core pillars of Golf Saudi and the PIF Global Series, the clinic underscored the event’s enduring legacy, pairing world-class elite competition with accessible pathways and inclusion for young players across the region.

Tenniel Chu, Vice Chairman of Mission Hills Group, highlighted the long-term impact of integrating youth education with marquee international events:

Mission Hills aspires to transform world-class events into vivid, practical learning resources for youth sports education. Moving forward, we will continue to leverage our PGA Academy and tournament platforms to provide more children with the opportunity to participate in golf, injecting sustained momentum into the development of youth sports in Shenzhen.”
